Dance Conditioning

Within the different genres of dance, students use a plethora of body parts and muscles. The goal of dance conditioning is to provide a regimen of exercises for the development of a dancer’s physical endurance, strength and coordination to complement their technical and stylistic dance training and prevent injuries. Dance conditioning focuses on strengthening and toning different parts of the body including, abdominals, glutes, ankles, hamstrings and more.

While leading dancers through conditioning exercises, instructors will reiterate the purpose of the exercise and explain the detail of the execution, placement, and alignment of the body. While conditioning classes are work-intensive, incorporating conditioning into dancers training will ensure dancers have enough strength and stamina to complete dance steps to the best of their technical and performance ability.
